Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of OhMyOCR’s website, web app, desktop app, browser extension, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms are written in plain language on purpose. Where a section limits your rights, it says so directly rather than burying it. Sections that matter most for disputes are Disclaimers and limitation of liability and Disputes.

Who can use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live if that is higher, to create an account. The Service is not directed to children. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization.

You may not use the Service if you are subject to sanctions that would prohibit it, or if the Service is not lawfully available where you are.

Service description

OhMyOCR provides OCR, document parsing, AI translation, file conversion, visual source-to-result matching, inline correction, and export tools. The Service is designed for productivity and document processing workflows. It is not designed for medical, legal, financial, or other high-risk professional decisions without independent human review.

Accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for your account, for keeping your sign-in secure, and for the files you submit. You agree not to:

• submit content you do not have the right to process;
• use the Service for unlawful, infringing, harmful, or deceptive activity;
• bypass usage limits, quotas, rate limits, payment controls, or security controls;
• reverse engineer, overload, scrape, or disrupt the Service; or
• upload malware, credentials, payment card data, or highly sensitive regulated data unless you have confirmed the Service is appropriate for that use.

Many documents people scan contain other people’s personal information — contracts, statements, receipts, letters. When you submit those, you confirm you have a lawful basis to have them processed on your behalf. See our Privacy Policy for how that content is handled and which processing providers are involved.

Plans, billing, and cancellation

Paid plans are subscription services billed in advance in USD through Stripe. Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can manage or cancel your subscription from the billing portal when signed in, or by contacting [email protected]. Unless otherwise stated, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Plan quotas are monthly pools: credits (covering OCR, document parsing, comparison, file conversion, and field extraction) and AI-translation characters. Free accounts receive a smaller allowance of both each month, and starting a paid subscription replaces it with that plan’s monthly quota. Credits from gift codes do not expire. Document parsing is metered by page, and file conversion is metered by page with a minimum per file. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase and that are not collected at checkout.

Refunds and your right to change your mind

Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Failed OCR, parsing, conversion, or translation tasks that do not deliver a usable result may be credited back automatically in the product.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. By starting to use a paid plan or a page pack immediately, you ask us to begin performance during that period and you acknowledge that you lose the statutory right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. To the extent it has not been fully performed, that right still applies, and our refund policy applies on top of it — whichever gives you more.

Your content

You keep ownership of the files you submit and the results you generate. You grant OhMyOCR a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit, transform, display, and store your content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the Service for you. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for backups and logs during their normal expiry, and anything we must keep by law.

We do not use your uploaded documents or their results to train our own models, and we do not sell them. Delivering the Service involves processing providers who handle content under their own terms; the Privacy Policy describes that, and offline recognition (in upcoming client apps) will not send documents anywhere at all.

Accuracy and review

OCR and AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate. OhMyOCR provides source-region matching and inline correction to help you verify results, but you are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it or sharing it. Do not treat machine output as verified fact.

Availability and changes

We may update, suspend, rate-limit, or discontinue parts of the Service. We may change prices or plan quotas for future billing periods with notice where required. If a change materially affects a paid plan, it will not reduce the already-paid quota for the current period unless required for security, legal compliance, or abuse prevention.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, that is being used to attack or abuse the Service, or where we are required to do so by law. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it first.

If we terminate your account for a breach, fees already paid are not refunded except where our refund policy or the law requires it. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

Your responsibility for how you use the Service

You agree to cover OhMyOCR for third-party claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs that arise from content you submitted without the right to process it, or from your use of the Service in breach of these Terms or of applicable law. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it in a way that admits fault on your behalf without asking you first. This does not apply to the extent the claim is caused by us.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that output will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OhMyOCR is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and any consumer rights that your local law says cannot be waived. If you are a consumer, you keep those rights regardless of anything above.

Disputes

Talk to us first. Most problems are faster to fix by email. Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact [email protected] and give us 30 days to resolve it.

If that does not resolve it, either of us may take the matter to court. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live and to rely on the mandatory consumer protections of your own law — nothing here changes that.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give at least 14 days’ notice by email or in the product before they take effect, except where a change must take effect immediately for legal or security reasons. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not, you can cancel and stop using the Service.

General

• These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy, are the entire agreement between you and OhMyOCR about the Service.
• If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is applied as closely as possible to its original intent.
• Not enforcing a provision once does not waive it.
• You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or reorganization, on notice to you.
