OhMyOCR for Chrome
Screenshot OCR right in your browser: capture any region of the screen and copy the text out — fully on your device, free, and with no account. Plus one-click capture-and-translate and right-click image OCR.
On-device OCR — free & unlimited
Recognition runs entirely inside your browser. Screenshots never leave your machine, there is no quota, and it works with no account.
One-click region capture
Drag to select any part of the screen — an error dialog, a chart label, code in a video — and get selectable text instantly.
Capture & translate
Snip foreign text and translate it in the same step, with the original kept alongside so names and numbers stay easy to verify.
Right-click any image
Extract text from any image on a web page straight from the context menu — no download, no upload, no detour.
Why a screenshot OCR extension?
A surprising amount of text is locked inside things you can see but not select: error dialogs and stack traces, code in a video tutorial, a config shown in a screen-share, tracking numbers in an app, text baked into an image on a web page. Retyping it is slow and error-prone. A screenshot OCR extension unlocks it in one step — select the region, and the text comes back copyable, right where you are.
Doing it in the browser, on your own device, also keeps it private: captures of internal dashboards, customer data or credentials never travel anywhere. OhMyOCR’s on-device mode runs recognition inside your browser, so the image stays on your machine — and it is free and unlimited, with no sign-in.
Available in the web app today
While the extension finishes Chrome Web Store review, you don’t have to wait to get text out of your files. The OhMyOCR web app already converts images and PDFs to editable text, parses documents into Markdown and tables, translates results and exports to Word, Excel, LaTeX and more — with every line linked back to its spot in the original so you can verify before you trust it.

When does the OhMyOCR Chrome extension launch?
It is in final review for the Chrome Web Store and launching soon. In the meantime, the full OhMyOCR web app is already live — you can OCR images, parse PDFs, translate and export today at ohmyocr.com.
Is the extension free?
Yes. On-device screenshot OCR in the extension is free and unlimited, with no account required. Online features like document parsing and AI translation use your OhMyOCR plan.
Does the extension upload my screenshots?
No. In offline mode, recognition runs on your own device inside the browser and the image never leaves your machine. Only online features (which you trigger explicitly) send data to be processed.
Which browsers will it support?
It targets Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc). We will list the exact supported browsers on the store page at launch.
Can I get the same features without the extension?
Most of them, yes — the OhMyOCR web app does image and PDF OCR, translation and exports today. The extension adds on-device screenshot capture and right-click image OCR right inside your browser.
